Learning Objectives
Utilize pain assessment measures and tools to implement and manage appropriate treatment interventions for identified impairments
Choose standardized pain outcome profiles in clinical practices to effectively interpret, monitor, and measure change in a patients status over time, and to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention(s) as well as any change in symptoms
Identify and discuss the two most commonly measured constructs of pain in a clinical setting
Differentiate between pain measurement tools used for acute and chronic pain
Justify therapeutic interventions to other members of the healthcare team or third-party payers through proper documentation from the selection of appropriate pain outcome measures
List and explain at least six factors that contribute to pain (sensory, neurophysiological, emotional, behavioral, cultural sensitivity differences, impact on lifestyle, informational processing)
